Terms and Conditions of Clix and Trix Dog Training Club
Please make sure your dog is wearing a harness or a flat collar (harnesses are preferred but not essential) Gentle Leaders, Halti's and Canny Head Collars are fine for those who use them but a harness is needed when your dog is on the long line. I don't want ANY adversive 'training tools' used on any of the dogs, that includes - Semi Chokes, Chokes, Prongs etc. They are NOT necessary and not welcome in my club. Anyone using one on their dog will be asked to leave.
As I'm sure you are all aware, that not all dogs appreciate other dogs company. Some will tolerate them from a distance some absolutely love other 4 legged friends. Having a reactive dog myself I know how frustrating it is when I'm trying to work with him and another dog is trying to get his attention. All I ask is that you be aware of the other dogs in your class and ASK if its ok for your dog to approach, please NEVER assume a dog is friendly. They all have their off days so please be respectful of that, especially if you have over friendly puppy's!!! Allowing your dogs to meet other friends is great but remember they are on leads so keep meetings brief to prevent dogs getting to excited and trying to dart off for zoomies or getting tangled up in leads. If you have a reactive, lead reactive or just selective reactive dog then PLEASE feel free to remind others, YOU have a voice too please NEVER be afraid to speak up for your dog.
I will NOT tolerate anyone shouting, raising their voice or being abrupt with their dogs. Here at Clix and Trix we believe dogs are to be treated with kindness. If you ask a dog to do something with a smile on your face your are 99% more likely to get a quicker reaction that you are using a 'firmer' tone of voice.
I also don't want to see anyone dragging their dog or forcing them to do something. ALL commands can be done without any kind of force or manipulating, using clear hand signals, commands or luring a dog they can be asked to do anything. If the dog is then positively rewarded for doing this, they are 100% more likely to do that behaviour again.
NEVER get frustrated with your dog, if they aren't doing what is asked then ask for help, its what I'm here for! Halti's, Canny's, Harnesses, Training Leads, Long Lines, Pouches, Clickers, Liver Cake and other Treats are all available to buy from me, please see my 'Albums'.
Whilst attending one of my Training Classes or 121’s you must acknowledge that its your responsibility to abide by the Terms and Conditions at all times and prevent any harm coming to your dog.
A full risk assessment is carried out on all training venues I use, copies of my public liability insurance and qualifications can be found in ‘My Achievements’ album on my Facebook group.
Choke chains, Semi Chokes, Slip Leads, Spray or Electric collars will NOT be permitted in any of my training sessions. Should you turn up and your dog is wearing any of these items you will be asked to leave. With no refund given.
I only use force free training methods, any harsh handling will not be permitted during the training session. If such handling is observed the training session will be concluded and no refund will be given.
All dogs MUST be wearing a dog ID tag at all times in class or during a 1-2-1 with the following information on. Your surname, your house number/name, postcode and a contact telephone number. All dogs must be vaccinated, microchipped and insured.
If during a class you or your dog suffer an injury, you must make me aware and the accident book will be filled in before you go home. There is a full human and dog first aid kit available in my car that is always close by.
Adverse weather conditions may lead to outdoor classes being cancelled with short notice. Classes will be rescheduled where possible. During hot weather water and shade will be provided and exercises will be appropriate for those weather conditions. All handlers are responsible for ensuring their dogs are comfortable at all times and any concerns MUST be bought to the trainers attention immediately.
If you feel the need to make a complaint about my Training Club, please send me a letter discussing the event and the reason for the complaint. I will do my best to resolve any issue that is brought to my attention. If I have an issue with yourself for whatever reason, I will contact you either by email, text or Private Facebook Message so you have it in writing and can refer back to it should you need to.
If you are asked to leave the club for either breaking the Terms and Conditions or doing/saying something the club disagrees with, you will be notified in the same way as above. I will contact you either by email, text or Private Facebook Message. You will be given a reason why and I reserve the right to stop any correspondence between you and I if I feel the need to do so.
If you book your dog into a class that is run ‘termly’ then you are committing to FULL term, any classes that are cancelled by me will be either refunded or taken off your next term - this can be discussed at the time. If you fail to attend a class then please note that NO refund will be given. You are paying for your place in the class not for when you attend.
I am more than happy to have reactive dogs in my classes so long as they are not under any stress, if your dog finds classes too much I will advise you take part in my Wild2Mild classes instead. Your dog is YOUR responsibility in class just as they are on walks, so please remind others in your class that your dog needs some extra space should they forget. Please make me aware of any likes and dislikes before starting a class.
If your dog was to fall ill during a class, please remember that they are YOUR responsibility, risk assessments are done at the beginning and throughout each class, so it is down to you to prevent any accidents from occurring. I will assist where necessary but would always advise you seek a vet. If you are too distressed to drive I will arrange for transport to take you and your dog to either the nearest or your vet depending on which is closer and the severity of the incident. For minor accidents I do carry a full human and dog first aid kit in my car which is always close by. Any accidents that should occur whilst in my class will be covered by yourselves and your insurance company.
